Planting Day 2011 brought over
100 volunteers downtown!
As the winter weather is eliminated from the forecast for the next several months, the signs of spring itch to come back to life.  The cool, crisp air with the sun peeking through ignites a planting spirit in many of us.  That spirit is also coming alive in downtown Greenville!

The Main Street Greenville Design Committee is organizing its 6th annual Adopt A Box Program sponsored by BASF to encourage  citizens to plant pride in downtown and within the Greenville community at large. The beauty of downtown reaches far more than its boundaries with assistance from area businesses, organizations, and families, Greenville becomes an attractive destination and community we can all be proud to live, work and do business in.

On May 19, a day Main Street Greenville calls Downtown Beautification Day, the district will come alive with people bustling around planting color into the earth.  The adoptee of each flower box and pot will engage in volunteering his or her time to keep downtown growing.  Last year over 100 volunteers participated in the morning program.

The vision of this program is to see families laughing, co-workers communicating, and organizations building teamwork. Downtown is a place for people to come together, socialize, and feel connected with the rest of the community. What better way to allow that to happen then a beautification day?  This day will be a small movement towards people picking up the shovel, moving the dirt, and planting the seeds for the future.

If this is something that excites you, please give Amber at Main Street Greenville a call at 548.4998 to adopt a downtown box or pot or fill out the Participation Form. Hurry a limited number of boxes and pots are available.
